Why We Chose Beeswax: The Unique Properties of Beeswax

Beeswax is made by bees from honey. Worker bees have special glands that produce the wax, which they use to build their honeycombs. Beeswax is a gift from nature and filled with unique properties that make it a valuable and versatile raw material that humans have used for thousands of years!
Here are the particular reasons we have chosen beeswax for our crayons:

Natural

Beeswax is a natural wax. It is made by bees from natural materials. It does not contain any synthetic chemicals or additives, which means it is free from harmful substances that can be found in some man-made waxes that are often used to make children's crayons.

Safe and Non-toxic

Because it is natural, beeswax is non-toxic. This means it won’t harm you if you touch it, smell it, or accidentally ingest a small amount. This makes it the ideal base for our crayons.

Antibacterial

Beeswax has unique properties which help fight bacteria from hive to crayon. This is a key feature of this unique wax and a significant one for a well-used children's crayon set!

Hypoallergenic

Beeswax is unlikely to cause allergic reactions. Most people, even those with sensitive skin, can safely use products containing beeswax. Due to our crayons intended mainly for budding young artists to use, we see beeswax as the best and gentlest option out there!

Sweet-smelling

Beeswax has a unique and pleasant honey-like smell. This is unlike most artificial waxes that have a pungent 'chemically' smell once melted and moulded into a crayon.

Biodegradable and Eco-friendly

Since beeswax is a natural product, it is biodegradable and does not harm the environment. Beeswax breaks down naturally. Unlike plastics and other synthetic materials, it does not contribute to pollution.

Beeswax is truly a gift! Our crayons are made with 75% of pure, golden beeswax as its base making them clean, safe and a precious gift for your child. Out other ingredients are carefully picked to complement the pureness of beeswax. We use carnauba wax— another natural ingredient, and pure earth and mineral pigments to colour our crayons. As you may have noticed, we do not add any filler, paraffin wax or artifical ingredients. As natural as it can be.
